V.I. RC&D Selected for 2008 Environmental Quality Award

Congratulations V.I. RC&D Council Members!

The Virgin Islands Resource Conservation & Development Council, Inc. (V.I. RC&D) has been selected to receive a 2008 U.S. EPA Environmental Quality Award! The Council has been recognized in the category of Non-Profit Organization, Environmental or Community Group.

The Environmental Quality Award is the highest recognition presented to the public by the U.S. EPA Region 2 office. This award recognizes individuals & organizations that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to protecting and enhancing environmental quality in Region 2. To be selected, nominees must have:

  • Significantly contributed to improving environmental quality in New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands during the prior year.
  • Demonstrated a high achievement level in the award category.
  • Created unique or location-specific benefits, produced results that are sustainable or reproducible, or increased public involvement in environmental action.

EPA will hold a ceremony on Friday, April 25th, to honor this year's Award recipients. The ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the EPA Offices at 290 Broadway in Lower Manhattan, New York City.

Again, congratulations & thank you to all past and present V.I. RC&D Council members for all your years of hard work that have helped the Council to garner this prestigious award!
