Soil Survey of El Yunque National Forest

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is pleased to announce that the Soil Survey of El Yunque National Forest, Puerto Rico, is now available. The new El Yunque National Forest, Puerto Rico, Soil Survey was SSURGO-certified and included on the Web Soil Survey as part of a cooperative effort between the Major Land Resources Area (MLRA) Region Office of Auburn, Alabama, the Caribbean Area NRCS, and the El Yunque National Forest and the International Institute of Tropical Forestry, USDA Forest Service.

The Soil Survey of El Yunque National Forest, Puerto Rico, contains the Official Soil Data for the portion of the municipalities of Rio Grande, Luquillo, Fajardo, Ceiba, Naguabo, Las Piedras, Juncos and Canovanas contained within the property boundaries of the USDA Forest Service - El Yunque National Forest.  The soil information for adjoining areas to the Soil Survey of El Yunque National Forest, contained in the Soil Survey of Humacao Area, Puerto Rico Eastern Part, has been updated too. 

New soils information (digital and tabular data) for both El Yunque National Forest, Puerto Rico, and Humacao Area, Puerto Rico Eastern Part, can be accessed online through the Soil Data Mart at http://soildatamart.nrcs.usda.gov/ and the Web Soil Survey at http://websoilsurvey.nrcs.usda.gov/app/.
